After a packed day visiting the famous attractions in the island or a chilled out day basking in the sun, checking out the nightlife in Sri Lanka can certainly be a good option. You can either hit one of the many pubs in the city of Colombo including Cheers Pub, 7 Degrees North, Inn on the Green, Brewery by O or Echelon Pub or go to any one of the main hotels outside the city which is sure to have a pub.

Nightlife in Sri Lanka is not restricted to Colombo but most of it is in fact centered around the capital city. You can try your luck at a game of poker, roulette, baccarat or blackjack at one of the famous Casinos, better known as clubs. Some of the most frequented are Bally’s, Bellagio and Star Dust. Gaming however is only for foreign-passport holders.

The little island is by no means a mini Vegas, but you can be assured there will never be a dull moment if you are interested in exploring the nightlife in Sri Lanka . You can dance the night away at many places, depending on the ambience and the music you are in the mood for. Rhythm and Blues, A Museum, Silk and Karma are ideal if you want to have a rocking time in Colombo, but in addition there are many organized parties filled with an aura of vibrance and vitality along the coastal line in Hikkaduwa, Arugam Bay and Unawatuna.

After a thrilling night-out and you want to grab a quick bite, the night-owl menu at Cinnamon Lakeside complete with traditional milk rice and soft, fresh, over roasted bread is a treat. A snack from Hotel De Pilawoos or a chillie hot masala cheese kottu rotti with an iced lime juice is phenomenal.

When you are in Sri Lanka, nightlife tips to remember are to dress smart casual for instant access to the clubs. No one under the age of 18 will be permitted. Please note that alcohol will not be sold on any poya day in Sri Lanka.
