Initially an uninhabited area of forests and meadows, Nuwara Eliya Sri Lanka was first discovered by colonial officer John Davy in 1819. Popularly known as ‘Little England’ owing to its temperate climate, yet retains most of its historic influences including colonial architecture complete with green gabled roofs, beautifully manicured lawns with rose bushes and even moss-covered grave stones. As you travel Nuwara Eliya, enjoy the splendour of the tea plantations unraveling a phenomenal story of the roots of the tea plantation in Sri Lanka, stemming from a few bushes planted in an estate between Nuwara Eliya and Kandy.

The weather in Nuwara Eliya is generally cool, perhaps the coolest in the nation, though the month of April is generally on the warm side.
